    The Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion was created on 29 October 2004 in Barcelona with the signing of the Constitutive Declaration “The Euroregion, a shared future” by the Presidents of the Autonomous Communities of Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, and the regions of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées, with “the will to join their efforts to create in the north-west of the Mediterranean a pole of sustainable development based on innovation, and social and territorial cohesion”. The structure is meanted to be a legal and administrative instrument to serve the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion with legal personality through the creation of a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation, a legal tool created by the European Union.
